Foreshadowing

Foreshadowing is when the author gives a hint of what is going to happen in the story. In the land lady Roald Dahl lets two large ones drop, "the smell of burnt almonds" and the stuffed animals are all hints of what is going to happen in the story. Becuse the story the landlady has a ending that just ends you need to play attention to the rest of the story or you won't know what happens in the end.
